There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den betting is banned. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent area, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and though visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel compound that highlights a number of luxuries accompanying the gambling hall, which has ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machine games and 88 table games.
