Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where casino gaming is illegal. Eight casinos are established in a generally tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime destination, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 1700, and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge gambling hall, contains 150 slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel building that contains many comforts accompanying the casino, which has ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight table games.
